Takoma Substation is a 230kV gas-insulated substation (GIS) with a structural steel and precast structure. The project includes the removal of existing high-voltage lines and structures and the installation of underground high-voltage duct banks. The Takoma Substation project is part of a 10-year strategy to strengthen the resilience and reliability of the metropolitan area’s energy grid by modernizing aging infrastructure and creating a smarter energy system.
