Clark is constructing a new 230kV gas-insulated substation (GIS) and demolishing an existing 34kV substation while preserving the 113-year-old façade.

Elements of the historic wood roof will be preserved and reinstalled and the original brick façade restored.

The Harvard Substation project is part of Pepco’s Capital Grid Initiative, a ten-year strategy to strengthen the resilience and reliability of the metropolitan area’s energy grid by modernizing aging infrastructure and creating a smarter energy system.

Clark Foundations will perform support-of-excavation as well as historic façade support.
