Clark constructed 4500 East West, a Class-A, LEED Platinum office building located in downtown Bethesda, Maryland.

The 330,000 square-foot, nine-story 4500 East West Highway is comprised of 212,000 square-feet of office space and 13,700 square-feet of retail space, with three and a half levels of parking below grade parking. The all-glass curtainwall building features numerous amenities, including panoramic views of Bethesda extending toward northwest Washington, D.C., and a 4,500 square-foot rooftop terrace with lush landscaping overlooking a green roof. The building also has a 1,900 square-foot conference center with video conferencing technology. The building offers a fully equipped, 2,600 square-foot executive fitness facility and full bike storage and repair facility, as well as easy access to the Capital Crescent Trail.

Self-Perform: Foundations

Clark Foundations performed the support of excavation work including an off-line sheeting and shoring system to account for rock at the bottom levels, bracket piles at the adjacent parking garage, and rock bolts at the rock locations.

This project earned LEED Platinum certification, the first of its kind in downtown Bethesda. Clark managed the regional material, certified wood, waste management, recycled content, indoor air quality, and low-emitting materials credits.
