Executing a Meaningful Design
Situated just a block from Washington, DC’s Waterfront Station metro stop and three blocks from The Wharf, the building boasts a striking facade with angular balconies that mimic wind and water movement. The facade is complemented by artful landscaping, which allows the apartments to be filled with natural light.
Delivering for Market Rate and Affordable Housing Units
The Westerly offers 449 units, with 136 reserved for affordable housing. Nearly 20,000 square feet of amenity space includes a rooftop pool deck with views of Southwest DC, the US Capitol, and the Washington Monument. Other amenities include an outdoor courtyard with a fire pit, entertainment lounges, a fitness center, coworking spaces, and a lobby lounge. The development includes two levels of below-grade parking with 209 spaces.
Contributing to the Community
The Westerly includes 29,000 square feet of retail space, featuring businesses like Good Company Doughnut Cafe and GoodVets, as well as cultural and educational spaces like AppleTree Public Charter School. The development contributes to the neighborhood's growth as a cultural hub, providing housing, retail options, and essential services.
The project combines traditional equity investment with 4% and 9% Low-Income Housing Tax Credits. The Westerly supports DC's aim to deliver 850 affordable units in its planning area, contributing to the city's broader affordable housing initiatives.
