The Social Security Administration Metro West provides a new headquarters for the Social Security Administration. More than 1,600 administration employees occupy the 538,000 square-foot facility set on an 11-acre campus.

Located directly opposite of the Reisterstown Metro Station in northwest Baltimore, the Metro West project features two office buildings, five and seven stories each, connected by a seven-story atrium. Additional components include a 1,079-space parking garage and a standalone, 90-student daycare center.

Clark's scope of work also included the demolition of an existing Maryland Transit Authority training complex, integrating complex landscape and hardscape designs, elaborate planting schemes, and site security provisions. The team also installed antiterrorism/force protection measures, which included blast-resistant precast and glass, two exterior entry vestibules, and perimeter anti-ram walls.

Sustainability

The project is designed to earn LEED-NC Silver certification. Among the campus’ sustainable elements are a green roof, a large park, bioretention ponds, and green screens. The Maryland Department of Transportation entered into an agreement with the U.S. General Services Administration to locate the office complex on 11 acres of station property, which helps the federal government achieve its sustainability goals and the state grow transit ridership and its economy.

S2N Technology

S2N managed the design and installation of the project's fiber and copper backbone cabling, paging system, and first responder radio system.
