Federal Correctional Institute & Prison Camp
Clark provided design-build services for the medium-security Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) and Federal Prison Camp (FPC), located in a mountain valley of the Appalachian Plateau outside Welch, West Virginia.
The FCI and FCP project consists of housing facilities for approximately 1,760 inmates and numerous support structures such as administrative, food services, vocational training buildings, as well as a health services facility, central utility plant, maintenance shops, warehouses, and other structures.
The 650,000 square-foot FCI is comprised of a group of buildings in a compound-plan arrangement and is designed to house and support approximately 1,632 inmates. The 40,000 square-foot FPC is organized in a campus-plan arrangement and is designed to house approximately 128 inmates. The facilities are jointly served by a Central Plant Facility with emergency backup. Clark completed the related site development and site utilities.
Additionally, the prison contains a UNICOR manufacturing facility and a state-of-the-art firing range.
