In Her Boots: Sara Guthrie

It's Women's History Month. This month - and every month - we're inspired by the talented women who shape our company, industry, and communities. Our "In Her Boots" series is designed to showcase and provide a look at what life looks like in the shoes (or boots) of some of the talented women at Clark.

Throughout her 22-year career at Clark Construction, Sara Guthrie has led people-focused initiatives that raise the bar for communications and connectivity within the industry.

A key member of the corporate leadership team, Sara oversees Clark Construction Group's communications strategy and the company's marketing efforts. As senior vice president of communications and marketing, Sara and her team's creativity, grounded by a results-driven approach, have helped foster company growth, strengthen Clark's corporate culture, and achieve company objectives.

An accomplished marketer, Sara has helped shape Clark’s product positioning and propel Clark's reputation as a trusted asset delivery company. Among her most notable marketing accomplishments includes developing the proposal strategy for some of the country’s most high-profile projects including the Stanford Adult Hospital, Washington State Convention Center Expansion, and North Torrey Pines Living and Learning Neighborhood at University of California, San Diego.

Through successive assignments in marketing leading Clark’s proposal development efforts, Sara was promoted to vice president in 2017 and tapped to lead Clark’s communications strategy.

In just the past four years, Sara, surrounded by the high-performing communications team she's built, has spearheaded numerous projects that have transformed how Clark shares information among its 4,200 employees in regional offices and on project sites nationwide.

Among her accomplishments is the launch of a new interactive and collaborative intranet designed to engage Clark team members and foster knowledge-sharing to ensure the Clark organization is the best place for people to learn and grow. Furthermore, Sara designed and implemented a series of company-wide online and in-person meetings, dubbed Company Insights, to enable corporate executives to share company news, achievements, and the strategic direction of the company with employees. These initiatives proved especially crucial during the past two years during the COVID-19 pandemic, when in-person engagement was limited - helping to keep team members informed, safe, and connected.

Sara and her team's impact extends beyond internal communications, having overseen the successful implementation of Clark’s robust media relations, digital communications, and branding strategies that center around showcasing Clark’s value proposition to key stakeholders, including clients, project partners, and potential recruits.

With an unwavering commitment to excellence, Sara and her team have played a pivotal role in propelling Clark and the industry forward.
