CFP Breaks Ground on Aspect, the First Residential Building at WestEnd Alexandria
June 11, 2026
Alexandria, VA - On June 8, CFP, a division of Clark Construction, and developer Foulger-Pratt joined Alexandria Mayor Alyia Gaskins, Howard Hughes Communities, and Silverstein Properties to celebrate the start of work on Aspect at WestEnd in Alexandria, Virginia. Developed in collaboration with city and community leaders, Aspect is the first residential building to move forward as part of the 4-million-square-foot transformation of the former Landmark Mall – one of the largest redevelopment projects in the region.

The project features more than 482,000 square feet of residential and retail space, connecting residents to over four acres of parks and community gathering spaces. As the general contractor, CFP will lead construction of the sprawling residential space, which includes two wood-frame apartment buildings connected by a signature second-level sky bridge.
The groundbreaking marks a crucial milestone in the broader redevelopment of Alexandria’s WestEnd, where CFP has led sitewide infrastructure improvements for the past four years. Since that work began, the transformation has continued to make major strides, including the recent topping out of the state-of-the-art Inova Alexandria Hospital campus in April.
“The Aspect groundbreaking represents the first tangible step towards the reimagined WestEnd neighborhood," said Brett Harton, senior vice president with CFP. “We are incredibly proud to work alongside this dynamic group to bring the new WestEnd to life by leveraging our construction expertise to turn a long-held vision into reality”.
Aspect is expected to welcome its first residents in 2028.
