University View Apartments I is a 16-story, 660,000 square-foot structure. It contains 352 units for University of Maryland (UMD) students living off campus in College Park.
University View Apartments I are offered exclusively to UMD students at rental rates similar to the costs for on-campus housing. The university provides these students with access to shuttle-bus service, campus services and on-campus meal plans. Amenities include a fitness center, game and TV club room, two study rooms, pool and outdoor terrace.
Since the project was sited on a 100-year flood plain, the building's above-grade, cast-in-place parking garage is located on the first four levels and built on top of driven steel piles and pile caps. Above it are 12 floors of post-tension concrete highlighted by brick, precast concrete and split-face CMU accents.
Due to their popularity and student demand, Clark built a second, and adjacent, University View apartment building in 2010.
