Dog River Reservoir Expansion includes a dam, spillway, intake and pump station, and an 800-foot bridge with roadway approaches. The project helps meet local demand while securing the long-term water supply.
The new dam and spillway are designed to raise the water elevation from 760 feet to 795 feet. This work requires over one million cubic yards of excavation for the new concrete spillway and a specialized design to manage water flow.
The scope for the new intake and pump station includes constructing four microtunnels totaling nearly 550 linear feet and installing two 2,500-horsepower vertical turbine pumps.
The new bridge and its roadway approaches accommodate the raised water elevation and will require approximately 126,000 cubic yards of excavation.
