Clark constructed a 110,000 square-foot, fully-functional laboratory as part of the Department of Energy’s Strategic Laboratory Initiative.

The project team built the new facility adjacent to the Energy Sciences Building and Materials Energy Module to provide modern, efficient, and flexible laboratories. The building contains open and collaborative spaces with vibration- and EMI-sensitive operations. In addition to research laboratories, the facility includes office space, small group conference rooms, a seminar room, and laboratory support space.

The Materials Design Laboratory is Clark’s 4th project on the Argonne campus. Clark also delivered the Materials Energy Module, the Energy Sciences Building, and the Advanced Protein Characterization Facility in 2013.
