Clark Delivers Western Bus Maintenance and Operations Facility to OmniRide

This past summer, Clark Civil delivered the new Western Bus Maintenance and Operations Facility to OmniRide, a provider of commuter and local bus services and ridesharing in Northern Virginia.

The facility, which is set on a 15-acre property, is the new center for OmniRide’s bus fleet serving the cities of Manassas and Manassas Park as well as the neighboring Prince William County communities. The site features space for 100 buses and includes three buildings – a maintenance building with eight maintenance bays, a fueling and washing building with two service lanes, and a new administrative and operations building for the OmniRide team.

For the first time, buses serving the western part of OmniRide’s service area will be parked in and dispatched from Manassas, enabling better on-time performance, quicker response times in emergencies, and increased savings on fuel.

“As Express Lanes are built over the next four years on I-66 outside the Beltway, drivers will look for alternatives to riding alone or paying tolls,” said Bob Schneider, executive director of OmniRide. “We expect to see increased demand for transit services, for new carpools and vanpools to spring up, and for slugging to gain a foothold in the region.”

The new Western Bus Maintenance and Operations Facility also adds greatly needed parking capacity for buses and more than doubles the space for mechanics to perform routine maintenance and basic repairs on the bus fleet.
