Broward Center for the Performing Arts
Built in 1991, the Broward Center for the Performing Arts is a 520,000 square-foot arts and culture complex set on the water along the north bank of the New River in downtown Ft. Lauderdale.
The 260,000 square-foot Broward Center for the Performing Arts includes the 2,700 seat Au-Rene theater, a more intimate 595-seat theater, and a multi-purpose Community Hall. Highlights include a four-story glass facade, formal gardens, and a riverfront terrace with a stairway leading to the river's edge. A rehearsal center, extensive backstage facilities, and luxurious theater lobbies also were included in the project. The 316,000 sqare-foot parking garage consists of three levels below grade and two levels above. It is a cast-in-place concrete structure with precast exterior spandrel panels, a double elevator bank, and parking for 955 cars.
