Clark Welcomes 185 Summer Associates to the Clark Team

May 29, 2020

Each summer, more than 150 college students join the Clark ranks as summer associates. Recognized as a Top 100 Internship Program, Clark’s Summer Associate Program provides students with meaningful construction experience and networking opportunities that foster long-term career development.

Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, while some organizations were postponing their internship programs, the Clark team was determined to adapt its program to ensure that this year’s summer associates were able to experience the vast-breadth of what the organization has to offer. To honor its commitment to provide a first-class experience for its 185 incoming summer associates, departments from across the Clark organization collaborated to launch a revamped experience for its summer associates.

Throughout June, the Summer Associate Program will be completely online. In addition to contributing to their assigned project teams, summer associates will have the opportunity to virtually attend jobsite tours, learn about softwares, develop relationships with individuals across the Clark organization through one-on-one video calls, and attend Clark Corporate University and LinkedIn Learning training courses.

In July, as appropriate and in compliance with local and federal guidance, summer associates will have the opportunity to work on a job site or in the office. Individuals will be incorporated into Clark’s modified staffing Blue and White Teams to promote safe workspaces with decreased employee density.

Capstone Day, which remains a staple of the Summer Associate Program, will be held virtually at the end of June. Working in small groups, summer associates will research topics related to Clark’s core business such as safety, innovation, and client service and present their findings to Clark’s leadership team.

"The Summer Associate Program is one of the most important elements of our recruitment efforts," said Chris Jordan, vice president of talent acquisition and human resources technology at Clark Construction. “We remain committed to dedicating the leadership, support, and resources necessary to ensure that our summer associates thrive during their time at Clark.”

This summer, the Clark Experience will certainly look different, but it retains its core tenants – the promise to foster learning, growth, and collaboration – that elevate the Summer Associate Program to much more than just an internship.
