Clark Delivers the UCSF Bayfront Medical Building at Mission Bay
September 12, 2024
On August 27, the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) inaugurated the Bayfront Medical Building at Mission Bay, welcoming its first patients to the state-of-the-art facility. The new five-story, 180,000-square-foot medical center enhances UCSF Health’s operational capacity, allowing for increased staff support and enhanced patient care.
The Bayfront Medical Building is equipped to provide primary healthcare services, a broad range of multi-specialty clinics, outpatient surgery, and same-day urgent care. The clinical facility features an ambulatory surgery center with 14 operating rooms, a sterile processing department, an outpatient rehabilitation therapy center, and a radiology center complete with X-ray, ultrasound, and CT scanning equipment. It also includes a compounding pharmacy that services surrounding medical facilities.
A nine-story parking garage accompanies the medical building, offering 500 parking spaces and accommodating administrative offices for UCSF transportation services.
Since breaking ground in 2021, the project team installed 2,400 tons of steel, 7700 cubic yards of concrete, and 285,000 pounds of ductwork.
Clark Construction served as the general contractor for this project, with the clinical building designed by Stantec and the garage designed by International Parking Design.
The Bayfront Medical Building is expected to achieve LEED Gold certification.
