A Vision Realized: The University of Nevada, Reno College of Business John Tulloch Business Building
December 19, 2025
Delivered on an accelerated timeline, the John Tulloch Business Building serves as a new gateway with the City of Reno.
On a prominent corner of downtown Reno sits the new University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) College of Business John Tulloch Building.
Delivered in summer 2025, the 128,000-square-foot, business building started as a mere "napkin sketch" and was developed collaboratively from the outset by Clark and LMN Architects. Through constructability reviews and budgeting, the team selected building materials and systems that delivered cutting-edge functionality and value, while reaching completion years ahead of traditional state funding methods through an innovative public-private partnership with Edgemoor Infrastructure & Real Estate, the university's private development partner.

The project consists of dynamic learning rooms, a 300-seat auditorium, 80-seat computer lab, café, courtyard, and outdoor plazas. To promote a collaborative and innovative learning environment, the classrooms are optimized for case-method teaching and team meetings. With rooftop views of downtown Reno and the Sierra Mountains, the development also includes site and landscape improvements to promote a variety of flexible and functional outdoor spaces.

The project prioritized a significant push for local small business participation from Northern Nevada. “The early trade contractor engagement undertaken by the project team was absolutely essential to the successful outcome we achieved. Building those relationships resulted in robust and competitive bidding and allowed us to award 70% of the project value to regional trade contractors – a priority for our client,” says Donald Gibson, partner with Edgemoor.

Beyond being a hub for learning, the building serves as a gateway between the campus and the surrounding community, creating a new front door on the university’s southern perimeter and connecting the school to the City of Reno. The John Tulloch Business Building is now a stunning reality, supporting both the largest program by enrollment at UNR and the growing Reno economy.
