AGC of Tennessee Names Clark Contractor of the Year

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Associated General Contractors (AGC) of Tennessee, Middle Tennessee Branch, has named Bell/Clark, A Joint Venture, its Contractor of the Year. This distinction is the highest honor presented to a general contracting company by AGC. The Bell/Clark partnership was formed in 2010 to construct the Music City Center convention center. The joint venture team also earned the "$250-500 Million Project” award at the AGC of Tennessee's annual Build Tennessee Awards program.

Larry Atema, Senior Project & Development Manager with the Convention Center Authority of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County praised the Bell/Clark team for their superior project management, "You've been an outstanding partner to us, both personally and as a team. Open communication between owner and construction manager is key to making a 2.1 million square-foot public project come in on time – with a shortened schedule, no less – and on budget."

Completed in May 2013, the Music City Center spans three city blocks, and boasts a 350,000 square-foot exhibition hall that is acoustically-designed to serve as a live music venue. The building also includes 59 meeting rooms, two ballrooms, 38 loading docks, and a 1,900-vehicle parking garage. Designed by tvsdesign of Atlanta, Music City Center features a striking exterior of glass curtain wall and limestone panels. The building's mechanical penthouse is shaped to resemble the geometry of a guitar. Features key to the building’s LEED Silver certified status include a four-acre green roof, the 360,000-gallon rainwater collection, and an array of 845 solar panels.

The Bell/Clark joint venture team is comprised of Bell & Associates Construction, LP, of Brentwood, Tenn., and Clark Construction Group, LLC., in association with Harmony Construction Group, LLC, of Nashville.
