Fernando Arias works with executive leadership to shape Clark’s national sustainability approach.
Since joining Clark in 2017, Fernando has overseen Clark’s national sustainability operations teams, advised preconstruction teams on healthy, high-performing building design and construction strategies, and leveraged his department's research team to find solutions and innovations that meet a diverse range of goals. He has also led the company through its corporate sustainability initiatives, including the successful Fitwel health and wellness certification of Clark’s corporate offices in all U.S. major markets.
Fernando earned his bachelor’s degree in architecture from the Southern California Institute of Architecture, and holds two master’s degrees from Columbia University in architecture and urban design, and in public administration focused on environmental science and policy.
In 2019, Fernando was appointed by Washington, DC Mayor Muriel Bowser to the Green Building Advisory Council, advising various city agencies on industry best practices related to the implementation of the Clean Energy DC Omnibus Amendment Act of 2018, and the Green Building Act of 2006.
