WMATA Tie Breaker Stations Upgrade
Washington Metropolitan Area Transportation Authority
Washington Metropolitan Area Transportation Authority (WMATA) has awarded C3M a $5 million contract to upgrade six tie breaker stations on the Metrorail system in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, DC.
The C3M project team will replace direct current switchgear lineups, insulated floor toppings, battery banks and chargers, and associated equipment at six tie breaker stations along the Orange and Blue rail lines. C3M also will install new lighting fixtures, power circuits, and supervisory control and data acquisition equipment. Throughout the project, the team will utilize temporary cables and equipment to facilitate power provisions while they replace the existing switchgear.
Substantial completion is scheduled for March 2018.
