The WMATA Fan Shaft Rehabilitation project includes electrical repairs, equipment replacement, and improvements to ensure six WMATA fan shafts within the Metrorail system are functioning properly.
The scope includes replacing main power feeds, switchgear, motor control centers, voltage regulators, transformers, automatic transfer switches, and light fixtures and enhancements to the supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system.
These fan shafts reduce excessive air movement, help maintain temperatures, and remove smoke from tunnels during emergencies.
