The building will be constructed adjacent to the new iconic 6th street bridge and will be designed to complement the nearby Arts District. When complete, the building also will include roof-top parking for Metro employees.

In addition to the maintenance building, the project team will construct a parts storage expansion to the existing Division 20 Yard Rail Fleet Services Maintenance Facility, which is a quarter of a mile from the new maintenance building. The two facilities will be connected by a communication conduit that will be installed adjacent to the active rail line.

The project is designed to achieve LEED® Silver certification and will feature photovoltaic panel canopies over the roof top parking spaces.

Substantial completion is scheduled for January 2018.
