Clark Welcomes New Sustainability Director
BETHESDA, Md. - The application and innovation of sustainable practices is a constant and evolving process in our industry. Emerging issues such as resiliency and healthy environments mean that sustainable solutions are increasingly critical to our clients, our employees, and our community. With this in mind, we are pleased to announce that Fernando Arias has joined Clark Construction Group as the new Director of Sustainability.
Fernando is a former architect and military technician who has consulted with public and private sector clients on design, education, and communication strategies for multiple sustainability certifications. Most recently, he directed strategic projects and partnerships at the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) for initiatives that drive industry coalitions around buildings and health and wellness engagement.
Prior to joining ASID, Fernando managed strategic relationships at the Clinton Global Initiative, served in both the United States Navy and the Army, practiced architecture for seven years in New York City and Los Angeles, consulted for Accenture’s Resources Group, and worked for the New York City Mayor's Office of Long Term Planning & Sustainability.
Fernando earned his Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from the Southern California Institute of Architecture, and holds two Masters Degrees from Columbia University in Architecture & Urban Design and in Public Administration focused on Environmental Science and Policy.
As Clark’s new Director of Sustainability, Fernando will work with executive leadership to shape Clark’s national sustainability strategy. Fernando is excited to bring his passion for green partnerships to Clark’s sustainability efforts across the country through expanded knowledge-sharing. Fernando will utilize his years of experience and expertise in building design and construction to expand our services, including holistic and advanced approaches to sustainable buildings and infrastructure.
