Stepping up for Suicide Prevention: Clark Team Members Join AFSP Construction Hike for Hope in Cities Across the Country

At Clark, caring for others is a cornerstone of our culture. We are committed to protecting the physical safety of our teams and ensuring that mental health support is a permanent and accessible pillar of safety for our people, our industry, and our communities.

Throughout the spring and summer, Clark and Atkinson teamed up with regional trade partners nationwide to champion this cause by participating in the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) Construction Hike for Hope to raise awareness about suicide prevention efforts, promote vital resources, and actively dismantle the stigma around talking about mental health in the construction industry.

The Construction Hike for Hope brought teams together in seven locations nationwide: the DC Region, Los Angeles, El Paso, Houston, Kansas City, Missouri, San Antonio, and San Francisco. Mobilizing more than 210 hikers and backed by 31 trade partner companies, our joint efforts demonstrated a collective commitment to building a safer, healthier future for the industry.

Our partnership with AFSP and Hike for Hope is part of an ongoing strategy to raise awareness and equip our people with the tools they need to support one another.

So far this year, we have implemented Talks Saves Lives education programs across the company. With the help of more than 100 trained Clark facilitators, this program empowers team members with the skills to identify suicide warning signs and confidently support a teammate, friend, or loved one who may be struggling.

In tandem with Talks Saves Lives, our continued participation with the industry-wide Hard Hat Courage campaign brings tailored, industry-specific training and mental health resources directly to our jobsites.

Through efforts like these, Clark remains dedicated to driving lasting change, fostering open dialogue, and establishing a benchmark for mental health advocacy that strengthens the industry.
