SPP Kicks-Off Inaugural Cohort in Charlotte

Monday, March 9, marked a significant milestone for the Charlotte small business community as Clark Construction officially kicked off its inaugural Strategic Partnership Program (SPP) cohort. The event, held in the heart of the Queen City, brought together a select group of local construction entrepreneurs and small business leaders for an intensive orientation.

The SPP is Clark’s flagship executive education program, designed to provide small, minority-, women-, and veteran-owned businesses with the tools necessary to navigate large-scale construction projects. The Charlotte cohort represents a strategic investment in small business capacity building in one of the fastest-growing economic hubs in the Southeast.

A highlight of the orientation was a keynote address by Russell Teter, who challenged the new cohort to view the program not just as a classroom experience, but as a bridge to future capacity-building within North Carolina’s construction industry.
Over the next several months, Charlotte SPP participants will engage in weekly sessions focused on a range of construction and business topics, including scheduling, estimating, safety, presentation skills, and more. The program culminates in a Capstone project and presentation.

The SPP is a part of Clark’s holistic approach to growing and empowering small businesses in the markets where we build. To date, the company has awarded more than $1.8 billion in contracts to SPP alumni nationwide, a testament to the program’s tangible economic impact.
