Safety Week 2018 Kicks Off at Clark Projects Around the Country

This week, Clark Construction Group job sites from coast to coast are participating in Safety Week 2018: The Power of Safe Choices – a national awareness campaign that provides an opportunity to reorient and recommit to practicing safe choices each and every day.

On Monday, all Clark teams began the week with a National Safety Stand Down.  Vice President of Safety Kris Manning spoke at the Inova Schar Cancer Institute project in Fairfax, VA to kick off the week. Manning was joined onstage by Clark’s Construction Executive Ben Lord, Division Safety Manager Emily Jorgenson, and representatives from the Virginia Department of Labor and Industry and FallTech.

“Safety Week affords an entire industry the opportunity to pause and reflect about what is really important in our lives - the safety and wellbeing of ourselves and others,” remarks Manning. “I love this year's theme, The Power of Safe Choices, because it speaks to not only the men and women working safely on our jobsites, but also the management staff who can influence safety conditions. While nobody chooses to get hurt, all of us have to make the choice every day to make a difference and look out for each other.”

Throughout the week, Clark project teams will host events to reinforce a commitment to safety for the men and women working on our sites, and in the industry at large. Events will include emergency evacuation drills, fall protection demonstrations, and ladder training. The week-long campaign will culminate with appreciation events to thank our employees and trade partners, as well as celebrate their efforts and safe work practices.
