San Diego, CA – The National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) San Diego Chapter has honored Clark Construction Group with the 2018 Company of the Year Award. Clark’s Suzanne Ives, Ana Gutierrez, Wendy Bohn, Jenny Li, and Kevin Legge were on hand to accept the award at the NAWIC Anniversary Award dinner.

NAWIC San Diego’s Company of the Year Award is granted for contributions to advancing the education and careers of women in construction. NAWIC’s San Diego chapter commented, “Whether they are supporting the interests of their clients or rolling up their sleeves to assist a deserving non-profit, [Clark] embraces the opportunity to make a lasting impact through community service.”

Clark has been involved in NAWIC San Diego for more than 10 years, and has contributed to both Camp NAWIC and the chapter’s scholarship program.  Suzanne Ives and Ana Gutierrez are active members of the San Diego chapter and volunteer with Camp NAWIC, a free summer camp that provides high school girls with hands-on experience in the areas of construction and engineering.

When asked about her involvement with NAWIC, Ives stated, “NAWIC opens doors and creates opportunities for women around the country. It is through NAWIC that I learned about an opportunity to work at Clark. I am grateful to Clark’s support for the organization over the past 10 years, and I’m excited to continue to have an active role in the chapter.”

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that women make up only 9% of the construction industry. NAWIC, with the support of its corporate partners, provides networking platforms, professional development, and education opportunities to enhance the success of women in the construction industry.
