Mario Caal is a journeyman electrician with C3M currently working on the WMATA Fiber Optics Installation project in Washington, DC. Learn about his nearly 20-year career in construction and his proudest accomplishment.
Tell me about your background.
I’m originally from Guatemala and moved to the United States at three years old. I have two kids and I enjoy watching them both play soccer.
Who has had the most influence on your life and why?
My wife. Sometimes life can be hectic, and having her by my side – providing me with guidance and understanding – gets me through the toughest of times.
When did you start in the industry?
I started in 2005 and have 19 years of experience.
How long have you been with C3M?
Since 2014, when the company was founded. I received a call asking if I would be interested in working for the C3M team, and I instantly said yes!
What made you pursue a career in construction?
I have been doing construction work ever since I was 14 years old. I like the fact that every day brings different challenges and experiences. Construction keeps you on your toes. I’ve worked in every aspect of construction, from painting to finishing to drywall hanging. The only thing I hadn’t done was the electrical side, and now I have.
What is your proudest accomplishment? Either personally or professionally.
