Boston Properties Begins Class A Office Building in Downtown D.C.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Boston Properties and KEG Associates 1, LLC recently awarded Clark Construction Group, LLC a $48 million contract to build 505 9th Street in northwest Washington - one of the last remaining undeveloped land parcels in the Penn Quarter neighborhood.

Located at the corner of E Street, 505 9th Street is midway between the White House and the U.S. Capitol and just two blocks from Pennsylvania Avenue. The site is centrally located in the heart of the District’s downtown.

Designed by Hartman Cox of Washington, this 460,000-square-foot Class A office building will feature superb views from its top floors, three levels of parking, two roof top decks, 18,000-square-foot theater and fitness center. The skin will be comprised of precast concrete panels, masonry and curtainwall. The 10-story atrium will be accented by a structural steel, aluminum and glass skylight.

DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary US LLP, one of the world’s leading law firms, leased 230,000 square feet of office space and will occupy more than 70% of the rentable square footage at 505 Ninth Street.

Other project team members include TOLK of Fairfax, Va., MEP engineer; VIKA of McLean, Va., civil engineer and Thornton-Tomasetti Group of Washington, D.C., structural engineer. Construction is scheduled for completion in Fall 2007.
