AU Midco Arena: A New Era for Augustana University Athletics

The recent completion of the AU Midco Arena has significantly enhanced the landscape of Augustana University and the city of Sioux Falls. This state-of-the-art, multi-purpose facility marks a pivotal moment for the university's athletic program and promises to be a vibrant hub for community engagement.

Delivered in January 2024, the 154,000-square-foot arena signifies Augustana's bold step into Division I men's hockey. The arena delivers 3,000 seats, 12 private suites, and a spacious club suite. The facility also houses:

• Dedicated team spaces including locker rooms, lounges, and coaching offices for various athletic programs, notably a full team suite for the Women's Soccer program, mirroring the facilities provided for the Men's Hockey team.
• Cutting-edge training and recovery facilities including a strength and conditioning center and sports medicine areay.
• Academic and administrative spaces, and classroom space.
• Community-focused amenities include a campus store, the "Skol Shop," and flexibility to serve as an event venue for concerts and community gatherings.

The architectural design, led by JLG Architects, blends modern aesthetics with the existing campus architecture.  

To expedite the construction timeline, the project team utilized cast-in-place reinforced concrete for the primary structure and precast concrete components to ensure structural integrity and efficient installation.
