Clark recently received a Notice to Proceed and broke ground on the first of seven phases. The project includes demolition of 703 houses; renovations on 588 historic and non-historic houses, as well as non-residential buildings; and construction of new infrastructure, 708 duplex homes, and community centers. The community centers will feature neighborhood meeting spaces, fitness rooms and more.
The project is scheduled to be completed in 2014.
Rosemann & Associates, P.C. is the architect leading the design efforts. The civil engineer for the project is Kaw Valley Engineering, and the landscape architect is Wallace Roberts & Todd, LLC.
The project is part of a 50-year Community Development and Management Plan to improve and expand housing at Fort Leavenworth, developed by the U.S. Army and Michaels Military Housing, LLC, the project’s developer.
Fort Leavenworth is located about 30 miles northwest of Kansas City, Kan. Established in 1827, it is the U.S. Army’s oldest continuously active fort west of the Mississippi River.
