Clark Residential Begins Westin Hotel In Arlington, Va.

— Northern Virginia’s first Westin Hotel is being built in the Ballston section of Arlington. The JBG Companies of Chevy Chase, Md. selected Clark Residential as the general contractor for the $39 million project. The hotel is the last component of Arlington Gateway, a mixed-use development also featuring a 411-unit residential tower and 330,000-square-foot office building. With the Westin contract, Clark is serving as the general contractor on all three structures.

With Reagan National Airport, Metro and the business centers of Washington just minutes away, Arlington Gateway’s elegant hotel offers a convenient location for business travelers. In addition, the Westin will feature 10,000-square-feet of full-service conference facilities and premiere dining.

“The Westin is a solid four-star property,” says Ken Finkelstein, principal at JBG.

Designed by WDG Architecture of Washington, D.C., the 240,000-square-foot, 15-story structure incorporates a precast facade with extensive curtainwall and stone accents. Amenities at the 335-unit hotel include a swimming pool, exercise room and spa. The anticipated completion date for the project is early 2006.

JBG’s vision for Arlington Gateway proposes to redefine the live-work-play design. With one million square feet of high-tech office space, a luxury hotel, luxury residences, fine dining and retail, Arlington Gateway is currently the largest commercial construction project in Northern Virginia.
