Clark Residential Builds Sovereign House Apartments in D.C.’s West End for JBG

— JBG Residential of Washington, D.C. adds to its portfolio with Sovereign House at 1111 25th Street in the District’s west end neighborhood. These new apartments are being constructed above the Columbia Hospital Professional Building and an adjacent parking garage. Clark Residential is serving as general contractor on the $17 million project.

The construction adds five stories to the existing office building and seven stories above the parking garage. A section of the second level garage will be converted into the residential lobby, three model apartments, leasing office and fitness center.

From its excellent location, the 150,000-square-foot property is a short walk away from Metro, Georgetown, The George Washington University Campus and downtown Washington. WDG of Washington, D.C. designed a facade that features brick, precast concrete, and cast stone. Residents have a choice between studio, one and two bedroom residences. Many apartments will feature private balconies and gas fireplaces. Other amenities include garage parking, attended front desk, club room and cutting-edge fitness center.

Four ground level apartments will have their own private patios on a courtyard, which will be constructed at the center of Sovereign House and accented by raised planters.

In addition to Clark and WDG, the project team includes KCE Structural Engineers of Washington, D.C., structural engineer; Design Works Interiors of Fairfax, Va., interior architect; and VIKA Incorporated of McLean, Va., civil engineer. The project will be completed by early 2005.
