Venable LLP, one of The American Lawyer’s top 100 law firms, recently moved into its 240,000-square-foot office space at Terrell Place, a new mixed-use development in northwest Washington. Clark Construction Group, LLC served as general contractor on the build-out of the $16 million space, as well as the $60 million, 478,000-square-foot base building, which was developed by CarrAmerica Urban Development, LLC and is owned by a CarrAmerica venture.
Washington-based Venable LLP has lawyers practicing in all areas of corporate and business law, complex litigation, intellectual property and government affairs. The Washington, D.C. office is the firm’s largest, with over 200 lawyers. The firm has other offices in Baltimore, Rockville and Towson, Md., and Vienna, Va.
Located adjacent to the MCI Center, Terrell Place consists of three connecting components: the historic former Hecht’s building, adjoined to the south along Seventh Street by a new nine-story building incorporating historic facades, and connecting to the east, a new 11-story building fronting F Street. Studios Architecture of Washington, D.C. designed Venable’s offices to extend across all three structures.
Venable’s office space contains many high-end finishes, including custom secretarial stations and radial wood wall systems, elevator lobbies with stone flooring and Venetian plaster wall systems, and custom conference rooms and pantries.
The project team includes Mark G. Anderson Consultants of Washington, D.C., construction manager, and Girard Engineering of McLean, Va., MEP engineer.
The project was named the Best Office Lease/Urban for 2001 in the Washington Business Journal’s annual Best Real Estate Deals of the Year awards.
