A portion of the former site of the Lorton Prison for the D.C. Correctional Department will be developed into the new South County High School. Fairfax County and Fairfax County Public Schools executed a Master Development Agreement with Clark Educational Advisors LLC, a subsidiary of Clark Advisors and Clark Construction Group, LLC, for the development, design and construction of the $64 million, 386,000-square-foot facility.
This public/private venture received extensive praise from Fairfax County Supervisors and Fairfax County School Board members for its imaginative approach, achievement of design, record-time of permit approval and cost/time savings in comparison to conventional design/bid/build projects.

We look forward to continuing to work with Fairfax County and Fairfax County Public Schools on this exciting project, developing and building a first-rate educational facility for the children of Fairfax County,” said Mitch Bonanno, development executive for Clark Advisors.
Construction is scheduled to begin in June 2003 and be completed by August 2005 - in time for the opening of the 2005 school year - three years ahead of the original planned opening. The design team includes Berry Rio & Associates, architect; Urban Engineering & Associates, civil engineer; Elhert/Bryan, structural engineer; and Strickler Associates, mechanical/electrical engineer.
