Gannett/USA TODAY Headquarters
The 1.5 million square-foot Gannett/USA TODAY Headquarters features two striking office towers wrapped in a glass curtain wall. Situated on a 30-acre site, the building's high end craftsmanship befits a national industry leader.
The two office towers that comprise the Gannett/USA TODAY Headquarters rise from a three-story glass and stone base building. These translucent towers feature illuminated, exterior glass elevator shafts rising the full height of the structures, which flank a beautifully designed plaza and landscaped terraces with cascading water features, forming a "town square.” The grand staircase required no lateral support and with each connecting-rod placed only inches from the next, presents a look similar to strings on a harp. Steel, glass, and warm auburn millwork combine to create the refined look of the lobby.
Another high-end detail in the atrium is the aluminum leaf ceiling, which is laid out in a circular pattern. To achieve the pattern, craftsmen applied the leafing by hand and with the help of a small brush. This antiquated application technique allowed them to create the ceiling’s textured appearance. The interior stone and marble used within the lobby and other public spaces complement the rich interior of the space.
