This 87,500 square-foot Healthcare Research Institute is part of Northwestern University's research park master plan. The research laboratory supports the Institute for Health Services as well as the medical and research needs of the University.

The three-story Healthcare Research Institute was designed to minimize vibration by including heavy weight steel framing. The ground floor exterior is composed of precast concrete while the second and third floors are rust colored brick with black accent bands made of block material. Due to the proprietary nature of the research conducted within the building, the front and rear entrances include special security measures. The interior of the facility has exposed brick and natural wood finishes, and terrazzo tile flooring, while an interior courtyard with benches and trees provides respite for employees and students.
