Atkinson Construction Teams Up for First-Ever Industry-Wide Safety Week

GOLDEN, Colo. – Recently, 31 national and global construction firms joined together to celebrate the first U.S. Construction Industry Safety WeekAtkinson Construction, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Clark, is one of the firms that make up the Construction Industry Safety Group and the Incident and Injury Free CEO Forum. The group's collective mission is to inspire everyone in the industry to be leaders in safety.

Atkinson developed a multi-faceted, week-long plan to promote working safely in recognition of Safety Week. The week's events started with more than 40 Atkinson employees receiving the Supervisor Training in Accountability Recognition Techniques or START training. Employees also signed a commitment board to show their dedication to working safely. The board now hangs prominently in the firm's Golden, Colo., headquarters.

To conclude the week, Atkinson employees gathered on the SR-91 Corridor Improvement Project to participate in health screenings, and demonstrations on fall protection, rigging and wire rope, and confined space monitors. Several vendors also debuted the latest in personal protective equipment.
