Maryland Transit Connectors Makes Shortlist for Purple Line Project

January 15, 2014

BETHESDA, Md. – Maryland Transit Connectors is proud to have been selected by the Maryland Department of Transportation / Maryland Transit Administration (MDOT / MTA) to submit a proposal to design, build, construct, finance, operate, and maintain the Purple Line in Montgomery and Prince George’s counties. Comprised of leaders of large-scale infrastructure delivery, Maryland Transit Connectors consists of John Laing Investments, Kiewit Development Company, Edgemoor Infrastructure, Kiewit Infrastructure Co., Clark Construction Group, Parsons Transportation Group, and RATP Dev America.

Representatives of state and county agencies, including Montgomery and Prince George’s counties, evaluated six statements of qualifications for the Purple Line project before selecting four teams for the short list. Teams were evaluated on predetermined criteria, which included prior experience, the proposer’s personnel and organization, financing capacity, stewardship approach, and overall approach.

MDOT / MTA anticipates issuing a request for proposals to the shortlisted teams this spring, with responses being due by fall 2014. A preferred partner will be selected by late 2014 and construction could begin as soon as spring 2015.

“After careful review and deliberation, I am announcing the decision to move forward with four private teams for this public-private partnership project. These teams clearly demonstrated their qualifications to deliver this important project in their responses to our Request for Qualifications.”
