The Forum Earns Preservation Honor Award

SAVANNAH, Ga. – In November, the National Trust for Historic Preservation presented its Preservation Honor Award to The Forum, Presented by Chase. The project was one of 17 award winners honored during the 2014 Past Forward National Preservation Conference. Committed to the structure's preservation, the project's owner, Madison Square Garden Entertainment, maintained the site’s original character while updating it for modern-day use as a concert venue. Clark served as the general contractor for the project.

As part of its restoration, the Forum's interior of the bowl was completely modernized and features flexible seating, ranging from 17,500 seats to 7,000 seats. Among the key features resurrected in an effort to replicate the original aesthetic is the exterior of the venue, which was repainted to the 1960’s “California sunset red” (now renamed as “Forum Red”). The rehabilitation also helped revitalize the community, bringing hundreds of new jobs and redevelopment to the area.

Clark completed the extensive Forum renovation in a record seven months. The venue reopened to the public earlier this year and is touted as the largest indoor performance venue in the country that is designed with a focus on music and entertainment.

The National Preservation Awards are presented to those whose skill and determination have given new meaning to their communities through preservation of our nation's architectural and cultural heritage.
