Clark Partners with Washington, D.C. Schools

WASHINGTON – Clark Construction Group is a long time supporter of Washington, D.C. schools, giving back in countless ways to support students in their pursuit of excellence. Our employees dedication to supporting local schools was evidenced during two recent events.

Nearly 100 Clark employees recently gathered to assemble more than 500 goodie bags for students scheduled to take the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) standardized test. Students from two D.C. public charter schools — DC Prep and Tech Prep — received pencils, rulers, snacks, stickers, and personalized letters of encouragement.

The students work hard all year to prepare for the test. The assessments in mathematics, English, and literacy provide teachers, students, and parents a better understanding of whether students are on track in their learning and help educators customize learning to meet student needs.

Teachers noted that the supportive notes were a "big hit" with the students. The encouraging words offered them the final boost of confidence needed to successfully complete the assessment.

In May, Clark employees from The Wharf project, along with associates from the project's developer, PN Hoffman, participated in Jefferson Academy's fourth annual Career Day. During the event, the team provided the D.C. middle school students with insight into the many career opportunities within the construction industry. Through employees' personal stories, the students were able to gain a sense of what working on an active jobsite is like.
