Clark Partners with KaBOOM! to Build a New Playground

WASHINGTON – Last week, Clark partnered with the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation, Redskins alumni and players, and members of the Community Preservation and Development Corporation to construct a new playground for the residents of the Cedar Heights community in southeast Washington, D.C.

More than 50 Clark employees worked alongside volunteers from the various organizations to bring the new playground to life. The project's scope of work included mixing 17,000 pounds of concrete, spreading 165 cubic yards of mulch, constructing a jungle gym, complete with a twisty slide, and swings, as well as building a mini amphitheater. The team also constructed a fire truck fort, which was a special request made by the neighborhood children.

During the afternoon dedication ceremony, Clark's Executive Vice President & Chief Administrative Officer, Susan Ross, joined community leaders, KaBOOM! officials, and the Washington Redskins owner, Dan Snyder, in congratulating the group and acknowledging the importance of community service. To signal the opening of the playground, the group cut a ribbon, which was made by children in Cedar Heights.

Clark's connection to the Cedar Heights neighborhood extends far beyond the KaBOOM! playground build. Just last year, the company completed the U.S. Coast Guard Headquarters, which sits less than two miles from the playground site. Throughout construction of the Coast Guard facility, Clark's project team found numerous ways to support to the local community.
