Clark Projects Honored at AGC Alliant Build America Awards

WASHINGTON – In March, Hoffman - Madison Waterfront, LLC, broke ground on the first phase of The Wharf. Clark and PN Hoffman are leading the construction efforts on the mixed-use project, which includes the construction of  two residential buildings, a Class-A office building, a yacht club, two parks, and a parking garage. Clark will construct a 501-unit apartment building with a music hall located on the first five levels. The building will be comprised of a brick and window wall façade. An additional residential building will be constructed with 147 apartment units and 134 condos. The building will feature a rooftop amenity space with an infinity pool and private terraces for top floor condo owners.

Also included in the scope of work is the Capital Yacht Club, which features a stone clad façade with decorative metal panels and wood louvers over the windows. The Yacht Club will be built on a pier over the Washington Channel and will offer 98 marina slips. A 700,000 square-foot parking garage, with two below-grade levels, will supply 2,500 parking spaces to the community.

To prepare the site for construction, Clark will raise the grade of the site by reconstructing 1,600 linear-feet of bulkhead along the Washington Channel. During construction, the project team relocate several thousand feet of water, sewer, electrical, and telecommunications lines, which currently service the Southwest community.

Clark Interiors also will play a role in the project, performing renovations to the existing Channel Inn.

The Wharf’s Class-A office building is designed to achieve LEED Gold certification; the two residential buildings, as well as the Capital Yacht Club, are designed to achieve LEED Silver certification.

Phase 1 of The Wharf project is expected to complete in 2017.

The development, which has been eight years in the making, is designed to reconnect the city to the waterfront by providing D.C. residents with a world-class public destination for year-round use.

The Wharf is being developed by Hoffman - Madison Waterfront as part of the District of Columbia’s Anacostia Waterfront Initiative. The development team is led by PN Hoffman and Madison Marquette. ER Bacon Development, City Partners, Paramount Development, and Triden Development also are part of the development team.
