Clark Completes LAX Terminal Shuffle Milestone

Clark, in a joint venture with McCarthy Building Companies, Inc., has completed a monumental task on the Delta Enabling project. The Clark/McCarthy team preformed the highly-orchestrated relocation of more than 30 airlines and tenants to terminals throughout Los Angeles International Airport's (LAX).

 

The “LAX Terminal Shuffle”, as it was coined by local media, migrated Delta Air Lines’ operations from Terminals 5 and 6 to Terminals 2 and 3. The relocation is a part of a long-term plan to connect Terminals 2 and 3 with the Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT), which will increase Delta’s flight capacity and international operations at LAX.

 

Clark began preparations in 2016 by completing an extensive preconstruction effort to determine the most efficient way to move the airlines and tenants while keeping all flight operations on schedule. With a plan in place, our project team worked around the clock to complete myriad renovations, including Airline Ticketing Offices, Baggage Service Offices, Ramp Operations Areas, Terminal Hold Rooms, and Gate Counters. The team also built and renovated new Airline Clubs, constructed IT rooms, replaced Flight Display Monitors, and significantly upgraded and expanded Baggage Handling Systems. In total, the scope of work included the completion of 125 unique work areas spread across five terminals: 2,3,5, and 6, as well as TBIT.

 

Clark has worked in partnership with Delta on a number of successful projects. In this latest venture, Clark/McCarthy delivered the infrastructure necessary for Delta to offer easier airport access and more flights in and out of the world's fourth busiest airport. 

 

In addition to new work with Delta, Clark has been building at LAX for more than ten years, delivering some of their most complex projects, including the TBIT and the Central Utility Plant Replacement. Together, we are helping turn the airport into a world-class destination for travelers.
