Bethesda's First LEED Platinum Office Building Tops Out with Perfect Safety Record

Bethesda, MD – 4500 East West Highway recently became the first commercial office building in Bethesda to achieve LEED® Platinum certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. Clark Construction Group completed the 330,000 square-foot, nine-story office building earlier this year.

The all-glass curtain wall structure features numerous amenities, including a 4,500 square-foot rooftop terrace with lush landscaping which provides panoramic views of Bethesda and northwest Washington, D.C. The building also has a 1,900 square-foot conference center with video conferencing technology, a fully equipped, 2,600 square-foot executive fitness facility, and full bike storage and repair facility.

The building's floor to ceiling windows and floor plates with few columns allow tenants to utilize less space for the same number of employees. Clark managed the regional material, certified wood, waste management, recycled content, indoor air quality, and low-emitting materials LEED credits.

4500 East West Highway represents another notable "first" in Clark's green building portfolio. Clark constructed the first ever LEED Platinum certified building, The Phillip Merrill Environmental Center in Annapolis, Md.; The company also built Washington, D.C.'s Nationals Park, the first professional sports stadium to achieve LEED certification.
