Even the most successful companies got a bit of help on their road to success; we are no different. Clark is committed to working cooperatively with our local small business partners to increase the size, scope, and scale of their operations.
Strategic Partnership Program
Developed in 2006, Clarkâs Strategic Partnership Program is a comprehensive, nine-month program designed to provide small business owners with core construction management and business skills. This program offers the opportunity to learn from construction and business experts at no cost and significantly improve their operations.
Taught in Clark's Bethesda headquarters and Costa Mesa office, the program includes interactive classroom learning, and team projects and presentations. Courses are led by a mix of seasoned Clark professionals from the company's estimating, purchasing, and operations departments, as well as outside instructors. To further develop the skill sets of subcontractors, the program also offers general courses related to the construction industry, including:
- Project management fundamentals
- Architectural blueprint reading
- Estimating
- Scheduling
- Purchasing
Throughout the program, a series of workshops also demonstrate what it takes to compete successfully for opportunities on construction projects, including:
- Construction and contracting requirements
- Bonding and insurance requirements
- Prequalification, bidding and invoicing
- Financing/access to capital
Additionally, through the program Clark assists participants with the technical training and personal development that will enable them to attain their business goals.
The success of this program to-date is evidenced in the relationships that have evolved as a result of it. Over 230 small business owners have matriculated through our program and gone on to form strong working relationships with Clark. Many graduates have formed mentoring relationships with larger industry firms.
